The Advanced Materials Unit at the Royal Commission Yanbu Colleges & Institutes provides opportunities for collaborative research projects between academic and industry experts as well as between faculty members and students. It has two sections: the processing techniques unit, and characterization methods unit. The core facility of the center will be developed as a certified testing center with a strong research base and capability to solve critical scientific and technical problems in the area of composites and materials. It will also work on turning knowledge into practice. The research activities are guided by the needs of the Kingdom, concentrating on engineering research, polymers, recycling, nanotechnology, nanocomposites and minerals. The Center focuses on applied research activities in advanced materials and composites, which includes: the processing of advanced materials and composites; materials testing and characterization; material property enhancements; reverse engineering product development; training and consultancy.
• We strive to become a certified center of testing in various fields including spectroscopy, thermal analysis, mechanical properties and microscopy
