Technology Transfer Unit

The Technology Transfer Unit (TTU) is committed to introduce, facilitate and support the technology transfer in the Royal Commission Yanbu Colleges and Institutes (RCYCI) as well as outside, through project development and rigorous hands-on training in various emerging and innovative technologies. The Unit has established various technical facilities in the field of Industrial Automation, Robotics, Mechatronics, Data Acquisition and Control, Pneumatics and Hydraulics, and Embedded Systems.

We designed and developed our first indigenous Flow Process Trainer in 2012. A senior design project by students of the Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering Technology department (EIET), supervised by TTU won the 1st prize in the prestigious National Instrument (NI) Student Project Competition 2013 in Beirut, Lebanon. The next year, another TTU supervised Senior Design Project on Automatic Bottling System was nominated one of the best projects at the global event. A BCI based wheel chair project developed under TTU got the 7th position out of 60 projects in NI Musabika 2014, Lebanon. The team at TTU also designed and developed the Network Remote Monitoring System (NRMS) to monitor the switch/network room temperature and availability of electrical power to switches and routers. This system is being used at 17 locations across the RCYCI sector. Amongst the achievements of the Unit include the designing of a Multiparameter Process Trainer along with training manual for conducting Yanbu Technical Institute (YTI) courses. We develop a conducive environment to facilitate innovative technology development and dissemination• We prepare highly skilled professionals through hands-on training in various emerging fields of engineering• We support local industries and institutes through project development and consultancy services

• We develop indigenous knowledge through research and development

• We provide technical hands-on training for staff and students of RCYCI

• We strive to be a renowned solution provider for industries and institutions and to establish state-of-the-art facilities in various fields of engineering
